Barbara Hammer neemt haar camera mee om het publiek te filmen tijdens vertoningen van haar films – sommige uitsluitend vrouwen, andere gemengd. Ze wilde dat iedereen voor zichzelf zou spreken. Ze wilde de diversiteit binnen een vrouwelijk publiek laten zien: de verfijning, de bedachtzaamheid, de speelsheid, het geflirt, de details, de subtiliteit. Ze wilde dat haar publiek zijn eigen film zou maken.
In een tijd van nationale grenzen en toenemend geografisch chauvinisme vond ze beelden van vrouwen die grenzen en culturen overschrijden en tegelijkertijd optreden als woordvoerders van culturele verschillen.
