Gabriel Yared triomfeert op World Soundtrack Awards
Gabriel Yared werd bekroond als de 'Soundtrack Composer of the Year' voor Cold Mountain en nam voor deze film ook de prijs voor de 'Best Original Soundtrack of the Year' in ontvangst. Cold Mountain sleepte bovendien een derde prijs in de wacht: 'Best Original Song Written for Film' voor het nummer 'You Will Be My Ain True Love', geschreven door Sting en uitgevoerd door Alison Krauss.
De 'Public Choice Award' ging naar John Williams voor de soundtrack van Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban en Santaollala Gustavo werd uitgeroepen tot 'The Discovery of the Year 2004' voor de muziek van 21 Grams. Sir George Martin deelde een 'Lifetime Achievement Award' uit aan Alan en Marilyn Bergman, terwijl de prijs voor 'Beste Jonge Belgische Componist' werd gewonnen door Steven Prengels, voor de soundtrack die hij schreef voor de stille kortfilm Le Réveil Tam-Tam.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office' />
De feestelijke ceremonie werd gevolgd door een filmmuziekconcert waarbij aanstormende talenten Antonio Pinto (Discovery of the Year 2003) en Sioen werden bijgestaan door gevestigde waarde Wim Mertens. Het concert stond daarna volledig in het teken van de recent overleden componisten David Raksin, Michael Kamen en Elmer Bernstein. Hun legendarische muziek werd opnieuw tot leven gebracht door het Vlaams Radio Orkest onder leiding van Dirk Brossé.
Het 'World Soundtrack Awards Film Concert' wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met Universiteit Gent en Sabam.
