There is nothing better than enjoying a movie in good company. At Film Fest Gent you can go for a fun group outing with family, friends or your association. There is a good chance that you will find the right film for the group within our selection. The talks and Q&As with our film guests provide that little bit of extra depth. In the Film Fest Café you can enjoy a drink, a snack and a nice chat.

Making a selection out of more than 100 films is not easy, we are aware of that. Therefore, we would like to help you with our Sections and Tags! All the different facets of our festival (short films, avant-premières, world cinema, TV series, films for children, etc.) have their own section. Would you like to focus on a particular theme or subject (young people, LGBTQ+, new voices, Belgian cinema...)? In that case you can follow the Tags.

The 53rd Film Fest Gent is scheduled 7 to 18 October 2026. You can now present your film for the program. The deadline for entering your film ended on 1 July 2026.

From 7 to 18 October 2026, Film Fest Gent will once again be the meeting point for the Belgian and international film and film music profession. With a festival accreditation you can experience all industry events from the front row. From 1 August, journalists and members of the press who want to follow the festival can apply for an accreditation. Upon presentation of an official press card or film press card, this accreditation is free of charge. The deadline for the accreditation application is 1 October 2026.

Starting 1 August, film professionals wishing to attend the festival (7 -18 October) can apply for an accreditation through their personal (professional) MyFFG profile on this website. The deadline for the accreditation application is 1 October 2026.

Every year, Film Fest Gent makes a selection completely tailored to older festival visitors: the Plus Parcours. This film selection challenges you with films from all over the world and aims to provide a guide to an overwhelming selection. Also discover the extra 'pluses' on the program. There is one performance every weekday with an introduction by program director Wim De Witte and coffee and cake in the Film Fest Café.

The films in our Explore Zone understand what it is to be young. They re2ect the world of today’s youngsters and stimulate all their senses. Our own Youth Jury is happy to indulge in this selection and picks the winner of the prestigious Explore Award.

Films under a rainbow flag. These essential stories highlight the LGBTQIA+ community, celebrate equality and often challenge (the still present) lack of tolerance.

Which films will take home the top prizes? One thing is certain: you’ll find them in this sharp selection of films spanning a wide range of styles and genres. The International Jury awards the Grand Prix for Best Film and the Georges Delerue Award for Best Soundtrack or Sound Design.
