‘Blue Heron’ by Sophy Romvari wins Explore Award

Sophy Romvari’s stunning debut feature Blue Heron has won the Explore Award at the 52nd edition of Film Fest Gent. The award is presented by the festival’s Explore Zone Jury, consisting of 6 young critics under the age of 26. A Special Mention was given to the campy, yet feverish sex thriller Anything That Moves by Alex Phillips.

'The Voice of Hind Rajab' by Ben Hania takes home the Grand Prix

The Voice of Hind Rajab by the Tunesian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania has won the Grand Prix for Best Film at the 52nd edition of Film Fest Gent. The International Jury was profoundly moved by Ben Hania’s “call to humanity”. Barrio Triste by Colombian-American photographer and music video director Stillz received the Georges Delerue Award for Best Soundtrack/Sound Design.

‘Têtes brûlées’ wins the North Sea Port Audience Award

On Monday 20 October, the final award of the 52nd edition of Film Fest Gent was presented. Festivalgoers chose Têtes brûlées, the feature debut of Brussels-based filmmaker Maja-Ajmia Yde Zellama, as the winner of the Audience Award (powered by North Sea Port).
