On Thursday May 8th, you can enjoy the free film screening in open air of Waarom Wettelen?, the debut film of Flemish author Dimitri Verhulst. CVO Gent and Film Fest Gent welcome you in the garden of the secondary school Het Spectrum in the Martelaarslaan. Before the film you can also enjoy a picknick with music and a conversation with the director.
Lifetime Achievement Award for Philip Glass

American composer Philip Glass will be celebrated with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the film music concert Minimalism in Motion: Glass, Nyman and Beyond which will close Film Fest Gent’s Film Music Days 2025 and the 25th World Soundtrack Awards. While initially renowned for his work for opera and his symphonies, Glass has made an equally impressive contribution to film music, with a rich oeuvre of film scores that include Koyaanisqatsi, Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters, The Truman Show, Kundun, The Hours and Notes on a Scandal.

Michael Nyman to receive WSA Lifetime Achievement Award

British composer Michael Nyman will be celebrated with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the film music concert Minimalism in Motion: Glass, Nyman and Beyond. The concert is the closing event of Film Fest Gent's WSA Film Music Days 2025 and the 25th World Soundtrack Awards. Earlier, it was announced that also Philip Glass is a Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
Campaign launch Film Fest Gent 2025

Film Fest Gent is presenting the visual campaign for the 52nd edition of the festival, which takes place from Wednesday, 8 October to Sunday, 19 October 2025. The campaign stands out with its bright colours and a hypnotic motion element. New from 2025 is the introduction of the Flanders Film Days, an initiative of the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF), which will precede the festival. The full programme will be announced on 18 September 2025.
Minimalism in Motion welcomes Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch and Martin Phipps

Film Fest Gent is thrilled to announce that acclaimed composers Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch and Martin Phipps will take the stage at Minimalism in Motion: Glass, Nyman and Beyond, the festival's highly-anticipated film music concert on 16 October.
Following the recent announcement of Philip Glass and Michael Nyman as recipients of a Lifetime Achievement Award for their pioneering contributions to the history of minimal music, the concert will also spotlight Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch and Martin Phipps - two visionary composers redefining minimalism for a new era. Both have been influenced by the minimalist maestros. Live performances of their music will add a contemporary dimension to an evening dedicated to the evolution of minimalist film music.
