The documentary When The Road Bends by Jasmine Dellal has won the FNAC Public Prize at the 33rd Flanders International Film Festival. The film scored 4,65 on a scale of 5 and takes home a distribution premium of 5.000 euros, intended to promote the release of the winning film.

At the Seville Film Festival the European Film Academy and EFA Productions just announced the nominations for the European Film Awards 2006. The 1,700 EFA Members will now vote for the winners which will be presented during the Awards Ceremony in Warsaw on December 2.

The Flanders International Film Festival-Ghent and the province of East Flanders are proud to announce that the prestigious Stanley Kubrick exhibition in the Ghent Caermersklooster attracted 32.054 visitors. The exhibition was part of the Flanders Film Festival and opened a week prior to the festival's opening night. It closed this Sunday January 7, 2007.

Peer Raben, a regular collaborator of director R.W Fassbinder and strong presence in European film music, has died at the age of 66 after a battle with cancer. The German-born composer scored dozens of films for the German auteur, with whom he started the 'Ensembles Antiteater' in Munich in 1970, including Lola, Querelle and Die Venusfalle. Other films have included 2046, Bismarck and Kontakt.

Award winning Actress Kathleen Turner is set to serve as President of the Jury at the 34th annual Flanders International Film Festival taking place in Ghent from October 9th -20th.

This year all the music events at the Ghent International Film Festival are concentrated in a three day span, which makes it easier for film music fans to attend these events. Film music aficionados are already looking forward to the 7th edition of the World Soundtrack Awards. Each year the elite of film music composers attends the ceremony and the subsequent concert to celebrate film music in all its aspects.

The score that gets the highest number of votes will receive the Public Choice Award at the World Soundtrack Awards (WSA), the world's most important awards for film music, in Ghent on Sat 20 October.

The 34th Ghent Film Festival is being held from 9 to 20 October this year, and its focus on film music will be even greater than ever. This year's programme includes a concert with Alberto Iglesias, who has been composing music for films by Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar for many years; the seventh World Soundtrack Awards; and a concert with Argentinean composer Gustavo Santaolalla, the multiple Oscar winner, and his Bajofondo Tango Club. Santaolalla will help sharpen the festival's focus on contemporary Argentinean cinema in terms of music.

The World Soundtrack Academy releases the list of nominees for the three principal categories in the World Soundtrack Awards, the most pre-eminent international prizes for the recognition of film music: Film Composer of the Year, Best Original Score of the Year and Best Original Song Written Directly for a Film. The names of the winners will be announced on Saturday, October 20 on the closing evening of the Ghent International Film Festival.
