Recognised by the IFFPA as a competitive festival, the Flanders International Film Festival - Ghent focuses on 'The Impact of Music on Film'. Some 12 to 15 films compete for four main prizes. The next edition will mark the 21st consecutive year the festival organises this competition. The competing films are viewed by an international jury, which will award four films. Awards go to:

  • The Grand Prize For Best Film (€ 25,000)
  • The George Delerue Award For Best Music (or Best Application of Music) (€ 15,000)
  • The Sabam Prize For Best Screenplay (€ 12,500)
  • The Robert Wise Award For Best Director (€ 5,000)

The 32nd Flanders International Film Festival-Ghent will once again include the widest possible selection of films from all over the world, mainly focusing on fiction films (feature-length and short) and, to a lesser extent, to documentary (feature-length and short). Animation pictures are also included. The festival presents films in 16, 35, 70mm and Betacam PAL SP or Digital. Sep/mag prints and Betacam NTSC-tapes are for technical reasons, not accepted. The festival presents a limited amount of (feature) video productions.
