On a summer weekend, Jin Xiaobei, Zhang Jianli and Hou Hong take their friends from Beijing, Zhao Cheng and Ma Yang, to their hometown on the banks of the Yangze River. Yu Dong, their former classmate, still lives in the small town, where he works as a policeman.
Jin Xiaobei isn’t getting along very well with Zhao Cheng, her boyfriend, while Yu Dong is bored and can do nothing about life with his wife. The arrival of Jin Xiaobei, his first love, inspires a mixture of happiness and sadness in him. To the displeasure of his wife, he joins the group of friends. When they find a dressmaker’s dummy in the river with a mysterious note, their relationships get much more mysterious and complicated. It’s the start of a series of mysterious events.
