The Green Knight is a unique retelling of the fourteenth-century Arthurian legend about Lord Gawain and his confrontation with the Green Knight. Still green behind the ears himself, Gawain wants to prove himself at all costs as King Arthur's noble cousin and Knight of the Round Table. The journey he undertakes leads him to distant and strange lands. It becomes a quest to find himself, full of folklore and symbolism, carried by the fearless performance of Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire). In this intimate epic, director-screenwriter David Lowery makes incisive comments on medieval myths and chivalric romance, which he reconciles with recurring themes such as mortality and, in light of this, the meaning of a human life. His regular composer Daniel Hart equally interweaves classical and modern musical elements in one of the most memorable scores of that year.
