Rukajärven tie (Ambush)

Russian Karelia at the beginning of World War II. Eero Perkola, a young lieutenant, and his patrol are sent in a recognition mission, in order to surprise the Russians in their back. He leaves his girlfriend Kaarina behind in the Headquarters. On his way he learns that the Russians have ambushed Kaarina, together with other soldiers, and that she was killed. Once a young idealist lieutenant, Eero suddenly switches to be a mortal enemy, swearing to avenge Kaarina’s death on all the Russians he’ll capture. A quite remarkable and dead tough Finnish war movie, with a very convincing Peter Franzen in the leading part.
