2018. Corporations rule the world. There are no more countries, no more crime, and no more wars. The extremely violent game of Rollerball is used to control the people. This "sport" consists of a team of players - most on rollerskates, some on motorcycles, and dressed in a football uniform - who circle around a rink attempting to lodge a silver ball in a goal. Jonathan, the greatest player in the game, is a 10-year veteran of the defending champions - the Houston team. The season is almost at a close, and the team is set to play in the semi-finals. Before the match arrives, Jonathan is given an ultimatum by a corporate head: either quit the game, or suffer the old fashioned way.
