Sent to a village in Alaska to investigate the murder of a young girl, a renowned police inspector accidentally kills a member of his team as they try to apprehend a suspect. Instead of recognising his responsibility, he takes advantage of an alibi that unexpectedly presents itself, but this ‘solution’ only complicates his emotional turmoil. His confusion and guilt are exacerbated by the midnight sun that deprives him of sleep. Moreover, the main suspect, a gentle and refined man, involves him in a psychological confrontation in which hatred and complicity are mixed.
