Doctor Dennis is a psychiatrist in charge of one of the services at a neuro - psychiatrie hospital. A young man calling himself Rantes suddenly appears on the scene, claiming he has come from another planet.
At first, the doctor takes him to be a simulator. As a consequence of the young man's insistence, he concludes the newcomer is a delirious paranoid. In fact, Rantes has all the characteristics of a delirious person. But there are exceptions: certain disquieting events witnessed by the spectator. The supposedly extraterrestrial will gradually intrude into the doctor's life, contesting his pretended good sense and his way of life.
Man Looking Southeast tells of the relationship between them, of the connection linking these two possible truths: that of the man who claims to have come from another world, and that of the doctor who needs to prove that the man is insane, because otherwise he will face a reality which he cannot explain.
