Already a wife and mother, Agnes Browne suddenly finds herself coming of age. She resolves to take a second chance at life and love, while always keeping her twin senses of humour and resilience. The year is 1967. Living in a boisterous and teeming central Dublin neighbourhood, the Brownes have always gotten by. But with the unexpected death of her husband, Agnes and her seven children find their finances wanting. In order to give her husband the funeral he deserves, Agnes must borrow from the insidious loan shark Mr. Billy, who makes no collections exceptions for widows or orphans. It’s a tough time for the Brownes, but Agnes has no intention of giving up, giving in, or giving out…
