It is the year 2035. The surface of the earth is decimated following a virus in 1996 which wiped out nearly all of humanity. The few survivors managed to save themselves by fleeing into an underground system of tunnels. Their only hope of living in conditions fit for human beings is to send a messenger back on a suicidal mission through time into the past to identify the cause of the apocalypse and try to prevent it. The “volunteer” selected is an imprisoned hardened criminal named James Cole. One of the reasons why he is chosen is that he has a recurring enigmatic dream which seems to have a lot to do with the threatened end to all human life. After several unsuccessful attempts, Cole finally lands in a psychiatric clinic…
