From 1972 to 2011, Patrick Duynslaegher was a film critic for Knack (Focus), where he was chief editor from 2001 to 2011. From 2011 to 2018, he was artistic director or Film Fest Gent. He has written for Sight & Sound, the International Film Guide, Variety and Vrij Nederland, among others. He is the author of four books: one on André Delvaux's Woman in a Twilight Garden, a collection of reviews, an overview of 100 years of cinema, and a critical study of Martin Scorsese's work.
