‘Untitled Sequences 2003’ is the distillation of chronological sequences photographed over a period of four months addressing verities of subject matter. Michael Snow said that cinema’s singular contribution to the language of visual arts was its potential for the mechanical control of duration. Preiss’ sensibility, which comes mainly out of the suburban ritual of home movies, considers duration to be the link connecting film’s particular physicality to the nonlinear network of memory.
