Teresa Villaverde

Três Irmãos (Two Brothers, My Sister)

Edition 1995
108' - 1994 - Drama - Dialogue: Portuguese, Spanish
Director: Teresa Villaverde Composer: Vasco Pimentel With: Maria de Médeiros, Marcello Urgeghe, Evgeniy Sidikhin
At the center of the film is what's left of a family: two brothers -Mario and Joäo - and a sister - Maria - who have always lived together. It is simply a given in everyone's mind that life means staying with the others. In truth, they need social nourishment from no one else outside that magic circle. This is, after all, a profound love story, a tale of deep and abiding affection. Of course, the siblings finally must separate and live apart - that is their tragedy and, in a strange way, their salvation. But, while the brothers might survive, Maria is now totally alone. When she needs help, there is no one to aid and comfort her.
