Woody Allen

Sweet and Lowdown

Director Woody Allen Composer Dick Hyman Cast Woody Allen, Sean Penn, Samantha Morton
95' - 1999 - Drama, Comedy, Music/Musical - Dialogue: English
Woody Allen returns to his roots: comedy and jazz. Sean Penn is a jazz guitarist in New York in the 30’s, who gets involved in a string of very strange situations, where he meets the most diverse personalities, such as musicians, gangsters and mistresses. It is noticeable that Woody Allen seems to go back to the kind of movie wherein he was probably the best: the burlesque comedy. The cast is rather unusual for a Woody Allen-Comedy, but it gives the movie a very fresh tonality. Straight from Venice to the Festival.
