The legendary and phenomenal American jazz singer Adelaide Hall in a self-portrait. Ata memorable 1989 concert, accompanied by 87-year old saxophone virtuoso Benny Waters, she recreates, with infectious vivacity and inimitable vocal style, numbers forever associated with her name, like Ellington's Creole Love Cal and I Can't give you Anything But Love. She recalls her early days on Broadway in the 20ies and in Paris and at the Cotton Club In the 30ies; remembers fellow-artists like Fats Waller, Lena Home and Ellington himself; and commentates rare jazz archive material.
