Efthymis Hatzis

Shores of Twilight (Ta rodina akrogialia)

Edition 1999
100' - 1998 - Drama - Dialogue: Greek
Director: Efthymis Hatzis Composer: Dimitris Katakouzinos With: Stefanos Iatridis, Anna-Maria Papaharalambous, Dimitris Poulikakos
His passion for a woman, and despairing thoughts, drive a young man to secretly take someone else's boat and escape to the sea. The breeze carries him away and he is shipwrecked. He recovers in a cave by a remote shore, in the company of three eccentric men. For reasons of their own, each one of them lives as an outcast in the small community. He listens to them as they tell their stories with burner and self-depreciation. Behind their seemingly failed romances, he discerns true love. The film, composite in form, is based on the novella by Alexandros Papadiamantis and was shot on the island of Skiathos. It is dominated by the first morning light, and that other light which speaks to our hearts, through the female presence, in this parable of love.
