The dance performance “Rosas danst Rosas” was created by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in 1983. The film gives a clear, effective view on the sharply and tightly drawn choreography of “Rosas danst Rosas” through a precise cutting edge. At the same time a range of more experimental cinematographic tools is used to allow the radical movements that form the basis of the aesthetic choices of “Rosas…” to stand out. The score has four distinctly separate parts, which are each characterised by techniques of phasing, repetition and movement. Within this framework, the choreographic structure is defined. At first there is only movement on the ground, then on chairs, next the space is explored and finally the whole ‘scene’ is usurped.
