The definitive end of The Beatles arguably came at the Toronto Rock n Roll Revival Festival. This documentary, loaded with lots of concert footage, shows that the festival wasn't really inferior to Woodstock.
John Brower risked everything, even his life, to make the Toronto Rock n Roll Festival on 13 September 1969 happen. The backbone was formed older rock heroes like Chuck Berry and Little Richard, joined by new names like The Doors and Alice Coooper. But the magic touch was to engage John Lennon in the week before the festival - only 2,000 tickets had been sold. Lennon performed with the Plastic Ono Band for the very first time, and that made him decide to leave The Beatles. In the end, 20,000 people turned up. Despite its influence on music history, the festival has disappeared from the collective memory. Revival69: The Concert That Rocked the World attempts to remedy that - just like Summer of Soul did for the Harlem Cultural Festival - with an exciting mix of interviews and archive footage.
“An incredible back-door story of how - against all odds - a life-changing concert came together. Director Ron Chapman reveals a series of colourful characters, murky deals and broken promises, culminating in John Brower, a young struggling promoter, putting his life on the line (literally) in order to achieve his goal.” - Tribute
