87' - 2025 - Documentary - Format: DCP - Dialogue: French, English
Paul has been struggling with depression and social anxiety for a decade and leads a solitary life. But as the submissive 'Cleaning Simp Paul', he finally finds a way to accept himself and overcome his fears by cleaning for dominant women. Denis Côté's documentary is a charming portrait of a young man trying to break free as well as an observational look at our internet culture, the BDSM community, simping, and the life-changing results of everyday tasks.

Shy and soft-spoken, Paul has been struggling with depression and social anxiety for a decade. The result is a life of isolation in Montréal, where his main connection to the outside world is through chat and a growing community of Instagram followers. As "Cleaning Simp Paul", he shares his journey with the motto "cleaning to save my life", scrubbing his way toward healing at the houses of dominant women, and documenting it all in quirky, heartfelt videos. With an observational, non-judgmental eye, Canadian filmmaker Denis Côté follows Paul on his cleaning duties al local BDSM practitioners (with names like Miss Jasmine and Donut Slut), who assign him (cleaning) tasks while helping him embrace his identity as a proud simp. More than just a charming character study, Côté's documentary offers a fascinating, deeply human look at contemporary internet culture (touching on influencer life), mental health awareness, kink and the everyday chores most of us tend to hate. For Paul, cleaning becomes a life-changing way to face his fears and claim his place in the world.
