The reception camp in West Berlin is a place of transit for many who want to test the West. It's not often that you see whole families here; usually it's women without men, men without women, mothers and children. Elfi lives there, too, together with her mother. Elfi is 15. In the East her mother was a hairdresser, now she is unemployed. Their new situation does not exactly coincide with Elfi's dream of the West. But without money there's no way you can get an apartment - you must have at least a couple of thousand marks Elfi sets off to get the money - no matter how.
