Fernando leon De aranoa

Los Lunes al sol

Edition 2003
113' - 2002 - Drama, Comedy - Dialogue: Spanish
Director: Fernando leon De aranoa Composer: Lucio Godoy With: Javier Bardem, Luis Tosar, Jose Angel Egido, Nieve de Medina, Enrique Villen
Actor Javier Bardem is the driving force behind a group of unemployed friends, dockers who have reluctantly accepted their redundancy money and now wander the port, drinking and finding casual labor. They are bitter but not yet defeated, and the film is both an intimate portrait of the men and their wives, and a political commentary with plenty of suppressed anger. Bardem holds the screen brilliantly throughout, and the result is a slow-burning, often humorous account of their sad lives. Best film and Fipresci Award at the 2002 San Sebastian Film Festival.
