A man escapes from a notorious prison located in Ukraine, three days before the end of his sentence. He finds refuge in a huge hammer and sickle monument. The escaped convict Is discovered there by a woman, the mother of a boy who uses the same monument as his 'second home'. The woman nurses the prisoner back to health inside the monument. They fall In love. The boy, jealous of his mother's affection for the stranger, betrays the man who is captured and sent back to prison. Crushed by the failed attempt, the man drinks a can of varnish in a suicide attempt. He is pronounced dead...
