The plot is set in motion when a body is discovered in Laura Hunt's apartment by her maid. The corpse is assumed to be Laura, since its face has been obliterated by a shotgun blast. The police detective Mark McPherson, begins his investigation into Laura's death by interviewing a group of socially prominent but unsavory citizens who knew her, including an acerbic, clever, and powerful columnist. Undoubtedly one of the most stylish and taut murder mysteries ever put on film, Laura features stunning performances, deft direction and marvelous photography all combining to make the film a must for any lover of film noir.
