Leon, Hungarian Prince, Jewish dissident, escapee from an asylum, meets Mickey, a nutty hoodlum, frenetic, nervous on the brigger, who rejoices only in vulgar provocation and the proliferation of corpses. Both have predilections for a liberating epilepsy, convulsive dizzy spells which betray the presence of God in one, the Devil in the other. Both love the same woman, Marie, a defiled beauty, raped at sixteen, become a prostitute, who keeps a childhood secret on her face and who is sworn to revenge.
