"Art is useless and dedicating oneself to the cinema, a waste of time," said enfant terrible Xavier Dolan when he announced his departure from cinema because of the precarious state of our planet. This visceral and energetic thriller is an adaptation of Michel Marc Bouchard's play of the same name, whose Tom at the Farm was also filmed by Dolan. Influenced by the works of Tarkovsky, Van Sant and Almodóvar, the Canadian filmmaker once again delves into the universe of broken families to confront us with the multifaceted nature of guilt and the complexity of communication, both with others and ourselves. Dolan casted Anne Dorval, his 'Mommy', to further model his obsession with the mother figure. With his first TV series, Dolan reaffirms himself as one of the most talented directors of the 21st century.
