90' - 2003 - Mystery, Drama, Comedy - Format: 35mm - Dialogue: Spanish
One cold morning, the 85 year old Mr. Don Galván wakes up and discovers that his old heater has broken and needs a new wick. He tries to repair it but needs a new wick. Decided to fix it the same day, he begins a journey around his hometown that will take him through an assorted amount of people and situations. The world is no longer the one that Don Galván knew, and this day will prove it. Through the main character’s look, Perrone shows the strong Argentinean suburb reality, in which unemployment and social insecurity are as evident as solidarity and the strong determination to survive. As a simple alchemist, the director shows how perfectly he handles the subtlety which allows stealing movies from the street, the neighborhood, the city and from live itself.
