Twenty-two-year old Lynn lives with her brother and his family in Berlin. There she enjoys the advantages of family life, without having to make commitments herself. She does not have a definite goal in life, but fascinates other people with her direct and spontaneous character. Her boyfriend David is quite different: he is an exceptionally disciplined swimmer determined to participate in the world championships. He does not want to be restricted by the complications involved in a relationship with Lynn. When she meets Koji, an attractive Japanese student, everything begins to become complicated.
