In Cold Blood

Director: Richard Brooks Composer: Quincy Jones With: Robert Blake, Scott Wilson, John Forsythe, Paul Stewart
In Cold Blood is the adaptation of the semi-documentary book by Truman Capote of the same title. It tells the true story of two young criminals, Perry Smith and Richard Hickcock, who massacre an innocent farmer-family. Capote depicted the berserk but nondescript killer in the American crowd. Not the criminal who blends into the crowd, not the desperado who stands always apart from it, but the psychopathic individual who is of the crowd. The contrast between the banality of such a person and his capacity for insane deeds, bewildering in its huge discrepancy between human cause and effect, is the theme of this film.
