Preteen Chuck has been invited to a formal dinner party with his friends, but he has decided not to go. He can only admit to himself that it's because his parents are always complaining about his poor table manners, he thus afraid to embarrass himself. The snipes by his parents only seem to put more pressure on him as opposed to teaching him those proper manners. Someone specific has an invested interest in him enough to be able to teach him and thus make him decide to go, that person being his future young adult self.
