A re-make of an early sound musical, this has a 20s college setting and the usual rivalries between moon-struck girls and handsome collegiates. The musical programme is very rich,
however, with the lyrical 'Lucky in Love' being passed from one group to another, several concerted varsity numbers and, best of all, 'Pass Thai Peace Pipe', with a pounding orchestration and some splendid acrobatic dancing. Of the two leads, Peter Lawford is surprisingly animated, especially when he goes into a kind of patter song in French. (N FT)
