Edition 1997
100' - 1996 - Documentary - Dialogue: English
Director: Andrew Kötting Composer: David Burnand With: Andrew Kötting, Eden Kötting, Gladys Morris
This is an amusing and moving film about journeys and communication and about self-expression. Gladys (85), the director’s grandmother - strong, opiniated, constantly butting in with anecdotes and reminiscences, frequently confusing and contradictory - and Eden (7), the director’s daughter, who suffers from Joubert’s Syndrome and can only “talk” through sign language, journey around the coast of Britain and journey into each other’s worlds. They develop a dialogue relating to the eccentrics, weirdos and “normal” people who populate the coastal environs, while the director provides ironic insight into the various generations of his family.
