Scientist Manfeld is convinced there is gold on the moon, and he plans to set out on a space flight to prove his theory. He manages to raise funds from a greedy financier and some fellow scientists. His expedition is launched with huge publicity and the launching of the missile becomes a huge public event. Once gold is found, however, the members of the crew turn against each other in greed and jealousy and the successful mission turns into tragedy.
