Der Mond ist nur a nackerte Kugel (The moon's only a naked ball)

Edition 1989
113' - 1981 - Drama - Dialogue: German
Director: Jörg Graser Composer: Peer Raben With: Elisabeth Stepanek, Sigfrit Steiner, Peter Turrini, Frans Xaver Kroetz, Karl Friedrich
The scene is a rundown, dilapidated farm in Lower Bavaria, not exactly a "Tobacco Road but its modern equivalent, and the central figure is a shy, withdrawn, unlettered stepdaughter of a recluse farmer who is now 18 years old and yearns to see something of the outside world. Anni works day and night on the farm: thus the old man is more dependent on her than she on him. Then along comes Vitus, a truck driver with problems of communication of his own. His stumbling offer for Anni's hand meets with resistance from the stepfather, but the attraction is too great for the inexperienced girl. She has her first sexual experience, marries and leaves the farm, and then blooms into womanhood and a full human being once she realizes life offers responsibility and selfassurance. (Variety, 18.3.81)
