In the year 1913, on a remote island in the middle of the Atlantic, the beautiful Sirsa marries the wealthy Harald, abandoning her true love, the wild and romantic Ivar. While Ivar and Harald fight for Sirsa’s affection, the guests dance the rhythmic and hypnotic Faroese dance. A shipwreck is the beginning of a series of events that will change the whole outcome of the marriage. Ivar rescues the Captain but when the engineer is pronounced dead, the Deacon orders the dancing to stop out of respect for the dead. The guests are divided into two groups: those who want continue the dance and those who respect the Deacon ‘s order.
