Chronovisor

Following its premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Chronovisor was widely praised by critics. In short: the most intriguing, most daring American indie debut in years. This debut film by Kevin Walker and Jack Auen is an armchair mystery, a detective story in which the emphasis lies not on forensic investigation or action, but on solving an intellectual puzzle. Much like Agatha Christie’s work, though the plot of Chronovisor is far more flamboyant: the story of a reclusive professor (the debut role of French academic Anne-Laure Sellier!) and of a mysterious technology capable of revealing the past! Science fiction? Certainly, but based on the account of a monk who, in the 1970s, claimed to have witnessed the crucifixion of Christ through his alleged invention, the chronovisor. A thought-provoking film with nods to film history, set to the music of Gustav Holst.
