Edition 1993
115' - 1976 - Crime, Drama, Adventure - Dialogue: Spanish, Nahuatl
Director: Felipe Cazals With: Enrique Lucero, Salvador Sánchez, Ernesto Gómez Cruz, Rodrigo Puebla, Roberto Sosa
On September 14, 1968, five employees of the University of Puebla arrived in Canoa intending to climb the nearby Malinche peak. A farmer, Lucas Garda, offered them hospitality. During the night a mob of townspeople went to Lucas's house, killed him, and dragged away the young Puebla men. The mob was about to burn them alive when the army and Red Cross intervened. Cazals structured Canoa in a documentary style and provides a background and attempts an explication of the townspeople's behaviour.
