The story is about the young woman sculptor, Camille Claudel, who studies with the famous Auguste Rodin and who slowly develops a love relationship with him. For a long time the two share their lives, but eventually the relationship breaks apart on two issues. First, Rodin is never willing to make a commitment, and keeps his wife at the same time he lives with Claudel. Second, Claudel is ever more put off by Rodin's political and pragmatic approach to sculpture, an approach that makes him highly famous and prominent, but to Claudel means a betrayal of true art. After a long struggle she breaks with Rodin and sets up by herself, with modest success. But she never forgets Rodin.
