Loosely based on facts, this is the story of Clyde Barrow, Bonnie Parker and their cohorts who, after a wild life of crime, meet their eventual death in the hands of a sheriff. Bonnie and Clyde is undoubtedly Arthur Penn s best film, a perfectly judged blend of comedy, violence and love. The almost childlike world of fantasy which Bonnie and Clyde create around themselves, their arrogant yet innocent belief in their own myth, is excellently depicted through Burnett Guffey s evocative photography and the superb performances of Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
