FILM MUSIC IN THE NEW AUDIOVISUAL MEDIA

Very practise-based lecture on new adaptations of film music in the audiovisual media (CD-rom, CD-I), video games, and theme parks. Bruce Broughton has a lot of film and television experience and is widely considered as a real authority in the field of film music adaptation in the new media. BRUCE BROUGHTON started his career as a film composer in the early 1980's. He has scored over 20 motion pictures since, for instance, THE PRODIGAL, THE PRESIDIO, and TOMBSTONE. Broughton received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score in 1985 for SILVERADO. He also wrote music for television series such as GUNSMOKE, DALLAS, and HAWAII FIVE-O, for which he received four Emmy Awards. Furthermore, he takes a very active part in the field of the new audiovisual media.

2.30 pm - 5.30 pm: seminar Leonard Rosenman
FROM EAST OF EDEN TO ROBOCOP 2

Only few film music composers can look back on such a varied career as Leonard Rosenman. In this lecture he will explain his working methods and his opinion on film music drawing on his own experiences. LEONARD ROSENMAN began scoring films in 1955. He has scored over 30 motion pictures since, for instance, EAST OF EDEN, REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, THE JAZZ SINGER, and ROBOCOP 2. He received two Academy Awards for Best Original Song Score or Adaptation Score: one in 1975 for BARRY LYNDON and the other in 1976 for BOUND FOR GLORY. Rosenman also received two Emmy Awards and one Golden Globe Award. Rosenman is also active as a conductor, pianist and teacher. He conducted the New York Philharmonic and the London Symphony Orchestra.

DISCUSSION: "THE USE OF MUSIC IN FILM"

Several well-known directors and composers attending the festival will discuss the use of music in film. The participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and join the discussion.
