Nicola Piovani is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in Italian film music. The Gent Film Festival is therefore delighted to announce that he will be closing the festival in style. Accompanies by the renowned Italian Orchestra Aracoeli, Piovani will captivate the audience with his scores for La Vita รจ Bella, La Stranza del Figlio and Pinocchio, to name a few. It was written in the stars that Nicola would one day win an Oscar for his film music. He has been Italy's most prolific and creative composer for thirty years.
The Concerto Fotogramma is an open reflection on music, created under the influence of film sequences. Sometimes it is staged in a theatrical manner and sometimes it is updated and reorchestrated. These diverse types of music can be freely reinterpreted within their own metre and adapted for piano in collaboration with the Orchestra Aracoeli soloists.
