A group of enthusiastic young men from Kortrijk (Joris van Eeckhoven, Thomas Desmet, Branko Vandenberge) will have the opportunity to set up a project based on Robert Wiene's Das Kabinett des Dr. Caligari (1919) at the festival. Through a workshop and a lecture, they will collaborate with a group of young people to offer their interpretation of this classic film.
Through this project, the Feathers on Wings group hopes to encourage collaboration between young, creative individuals and raise awareness of film history among young people. The workshop will introduce young people to the historical richness of film and examine the influence of vintage film techniques on modern productions. With the help of a actors, scenery and film materials, participants will recreate the early years of film. Under supervision, they will film a subject of their choice, simulating the limitations of the past. The lecture will examine the historical and cultural context of film as a medium. The grand finale will be a screening of the silent film Das Kabinett des Doktor Caligari. The will be screened at the Decascoop, accompanied by contemporary live music. The workshop, lecture and screening will all take place on 17 October and are free of charge.
