Film Fest Gent announces the programme of the 2025 WSA Film Music Days, from 14 until 16 October 2025. Across three days of concerts, talks, panels and workshops, composers and industry professionals gather in Ghent to reflect on the art, craft and future of music for screen. Headlining the programme are Debbie Wiseman, Martin Phipps, Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch and the Composers Diversity Collective.

The nominees for the 25th anniversary edition of the World Soundtrack Awards have been announced, once again highlighting the incredible scores and songs composed for film and television over the past year. Ariel Marx, Hania Rani, and Laetitia Pansanel-Garric showcase a new generation of talent while icons such as Elton John, Alberto Iglesias, and John Powell feature as established voices. Volker Bertelmann and Daniel Blumberg take centre stage, receiving not one but two nominations. On 15 October, the winners will be announced at the annual WSA Ceremony & Concert during Film Fest Gent.
Two VRT series to premiere at FFG 09 Sep 2025
Alongside film and film music, Film Fest Gent 2025 will also showcase two high-profile Flemish television series: the six-part thriller This is not a murder mystery and the eagerly awaited second season of audience favorite Roomies will both premiere in October in Ghent. Later this fall, the series will air on VRT.

Following the acclaimed festival run of her debut Playground (Un monde), Brussels-born filmmaker Laura Wandel returns to Film Fest Gent. Her second feature, Adam’s Sake (L’Intérêt d’Adam), which previously opened the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes, will celebrate its Belgian premiere at the 52nd edition of the festival.
Harris Dickinson closes Film Fest Gent 2025 with Urchin 12 Sep 2025
Film Fest Gent will close its 52nd edition with the Belgian premiere of Urchin, the surprising and profoundly humane directorial debut of British actor Harris Dickinson (Triangle of Sadness, Babygirl). The film, which was previously selected for the prestigious Un Certain Regard competition in Cannes, will screen on Saturday 18 October at Kinepolis Gent in the presence of Dickinson himself.
FFG and S.M.A.K. present James Benning 16 Sep 2025
At the 52nd edition of Film Fest Gent, the festival bands together with S.M.A.K. to spotlight the versatile work of influential American artist James Benning (°1942, Milwaukee, WI). Alongside the inclusion of little boy in Film Fest Gent’s Official Selection, three of his key works will also be screened at S.M.A.K.
