On Sunday 13 October, the short film jury decides on the Award for Best Belgian Student Short, powered by Amplo and the Film Fest Gent Best International Short Award. But who is in our short film jury this year?

Neil Young - Film Critic, UK

Neil Young is a British journalist, programmer and filmmaker, who regularly writes for The Hollywood Reporter and Sight & Sound among other publications. He works as curator or consultant at several European festivals, including prominent events in Austria, Norway and Serbia. His feature-length directorial debut ‘Rihaction’ premiered in March.

Jayro Bustamante - Director, GUA

Guatemalan director Jayro Bustamante is back at Film Fest Gent after his remarkable debut ‘Ixcanul’ in 2015. Next to his jury duties, his film ‘La Llorona’ will be screened in our official competition this year after a run in Venice, while his other project ‘Temblores’ featured at the Berlinale.

Amira Daoudi - Graphic Designer, BE

Graphic designer and art director Amira Daoudi leads her own Studio Daoudi, an international creative communication company. She specialises in the creation of film posters, including Academy Award Nominee ‘Bullhead’, but was also involved in the brand new identity of the Brussels Royal City Theater. In 2015, she presented her first solo exhibition ‘From Film to Poster’.
