Zaman

The third film by director Patrick Le Bon proved a pleasant surprise and a new string in the bow of Flemish film production. Never before has the Antwerp police world been pictured in such a socially sympathetic light. Patrick Le Bon and Paul Koeck, the team behind ‘Hellhole’, have written a lively and fluid screenplay centred on the character of Zaman, a police inspector of the Antwerp criminal investigation division, who faces problems not only in his professional life but also at home. An excellent Marc Janssen as Zaman and Herbert Flack come over very well. The police milieu, the human characteristics of the officers and the difficult situations they face are all convincingly portrayed. (RS)
