Wilderness survival for girls

Boldly reconfiguring the psychological thriller genre, directors Kim Roberts and Eli Despres’ provocative first fiction feature explores the personal dynamics between teenage girls forced to confront their burgeoning independence. Envisioning a quiet weekend getaway from their parents, Ruth, Deb, and Kate head for a remote cabin in a lush mountain range. Once there, however, subtle rifts between the girls begin to develop and, as it grows dark outside, the already charged atmosphere becomes menacing when they realize they are not alone. As the feverish night wears on, barely suppressed issues about their friendship and their sexuality intertwine with fears of the mysterious stranger until it becomes difficult to tell who’s a friend and who’s a stranger.
